If you've already missed your period, any test will be fine. The tests from the dollar store are just as accurate as the pricey tests at the pharmacy.

If you haven't missed your period yet, get an early detection test, like .e.p.t.

Your doctor wouldn't know if you were pregnant over the phone. He would need to test you - either with a urine test (which you're asking about already) or with a blood test.

Unprotected sex + no period = possible pregnancy. But that's all anyone can tell you without a test. Your doctor was right to recommend you to take one, because there isn't much else he could do.

I hope for your sake that you're not pregnant. But if you are, feel free to join us here. These girls are very supportive and will offer great advice.

A urine test at the doctor's is the same as a urine test at home - except they know exactly how to use the tests, and normal people sometimes don't take them right.

When i took my test i got a clearblue one because for some reason even though i know all tests are as accurate as eachother it gave me some kind of security that it would give me the right result. Like the others have said every test works the same and has the same level of accuracy. Also may i ask, why didn't your doc tell you straight away? Because i would presume the result is visible in pretty much the same amount of time as a home test.

Urine tests are void after a number of minutes anyway, so there's no reason it would have taken him a few days to get a result, whether he works on weekends or otherwise.

Doesn't sound right to me.

Nobody said they were doubting her - only that it doesn't make sense.

I didn't say anyone did i was just kinda stating i wasn't so she doesn't come back on and think 'oh my god what a bi*ch' because i could come across that i was. I wasn't accusing anyone sorry if it seemed that way

Nope. Just like you wanted it on the record that you weren't accusing her, I wanted it on the record that the rest of us weren't, either. Wink

Ah i'm with you now. I hate how careful you have to be when you type because things can be misinterprited so easily

No. A pregnancy test is looking for a hormone called hcg. This hormone is only made when you are growing a baby. It will only trigger a "positive" if you have enough of the hormone in your system, which is why some people get negative pregnancy results even though they're pregnant - they tested too early.

A tract infection won't mess the test up. Neither will birth control.
