Ortho Tri-cyclen Lo And Condoms? Posted: 03-20-07 07:48am
I am new here, I may have several
questions, but tis is my first one. My
fiancee just went on ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN LO
and I was wondering if we need to wear a
condom during intercourse from now on? We
are not wanting to have a child for
several years. Online it appears that it
is safer to be on birth control without a
condom, then it is to just wear a condom.
Is that correct?
Also I have one more question. Should I
still pull, or is it alright to "go"
inside of her.
Thanks,
Dan

It would be a really good idea to use
something for the next month or so just to
be sure its working. I was on ortho for
5years and it is wonderful. We never had
to use condoms. But you have to take them
on time or it wont work right. Good
Luck!!!

When did she start the pills? if she
started on the first day of her period
then she is safe immediately and you do
not need to use condoms.
If she started at any other time, then you
need to wait a week, and then she will be
protected. That's all
You can ejaculate inside, my bf does it
all the time and I'm safe.

Thanks alot for the information guys! She
is going to start the sunday after her
period (that is what the doctor told her
to do) and we were just concerned.
Also after she starts taking it, is there
any way to see if it is not right for her
body, or if her body is rejecting it?
One more question...what is she starts
taking them at Noon every day, and one day
forgets and takes it at 3:00 or even 8:00
would that be too severe of a difference
and what precautions should we take.

Her body will not reject it; these are
hormones already inside her body. However,
she may have side affects due to the
amounts of the hormones. Only she will
know if she is being adversly affected.
Common side affects are headaches,
irritability like that before a period
(pms), increased discharge, weight gain,
and breast enlargement.

I was on ortho for about a year. I often
forgot to take the pill at the same time
everyday....It didnt really make much
difference. I didn't get pregnant due to
time differences in taking it. But if you
are worried....Just wear a condom on days
the time is off a little or if she
forgets.
