Urine Sample Question Posted: 03-20-07 15:29pm
I usually see my midwife at home but she's
on holiday when my next appointment is due
so i'm seeing someone else. I've been
given a tiny container to put it in (i
have no idea how i'm gunna do that one!)
but what i want to know is does it matter
how old the urine is? I don't mean days
old i was just wondering if the fresher
the better so to speak
i would suggest the morning of your
appointment, they test for protein etc ,
so the fresher the better. to get accurate
results.

needs to be less than 4 hours old (in the
container) if possible and preferably keep
it in the fridge until the last minute.
urine starts to break down so chilling it
stops it from breaking odwn so quick.
what are they testing for?

my doctor's office liked their patients to
bring in their first morning urine, no
matter what time the appointment.
but i felt gross putting pee in my fridge
and then driving for a half hour with it
so i always just peed when i got there.

That is the first thing I do when I see my
doc. We head straight for the bathroom, I
pee in a cup and she dips it. I wouldn't
like transporting my pee either. UCK

I had to do a Urine sample last week to
check for a water infection but everything
was ok. And I had the normal routine blood
tests for all them nasty things. I hate
blood tests, they sting like a beatch!

Just testing for the usual things really
plus considering i've shown blood and
protein in past appointments they need to
keep an eye on me.
Lauren- i know what you mean about blood
tests they are evil! I've got another one
in 2 weeks

My midwife said it was ok to pee into a
clean dry container (like a jug) and then
pour the urine into the little bottle.
Just remember to put some disinfectant in
the jug afterwards!!!!

I may get some disposible cups to pee in
lol. When i was younger and had a lot of
uti's they used to give my mum a paper cup
for me to pee in and then the little
bottle too so i'm not quite sure why they
didn't do that this time
