Painless Contractions? Posted: 03-20-07 17:10pm
Is it possible to be having contractions
and not even know it? I'm due March 23
and 2 weeks ago I was dilated 1.5cm and
50% effaced. I don't know what Braxton
Hicks feels like, nor do I know what
menstrual cramps feel like! I'm lucky, I
know! I thought you have
to have some kinda contractions for your
cervix to start dilating? If that's the
case, could I be having contractions and
not even feel it? Or, is it once your
water breaks then you start feeling those
bad boys?

My .B.H. feel like my entire stomach is
tightening. That's it. They don't hurt,
but there is a little pressure.
You may be having contractions and don't
know it.

I remember with my first i was overdue and
so anxious that one day i had been feeling
like really mild period pain it was hardly
noticeable then by late afternoon they
were still there but nothing like
tightening, so i said to my partner and
mum that i was having contractions i
thought and they werent sure cos i wasnt
in any pain just sorta uncomfortable, at
9pm i had this one pain that was like a
tightening and i said right thats it we
are goingt o hospital pretending that they
were 3 mins apart we got there the midwife
said that they would send me home soon cos
i didint look like i was in any pain so
they gave me an examination and i was
actaully 5 cm dilated, but i had no
contractions there after by midnight they
were sick of waiting and broke my waters
and i had such a terrible labour I wish
now that i had waited till i had those
tightenings that i only had one of, so
little niggles are normal even if it is
dilating by the time they are strong and 5
mins apart i think your probably ready to
pop the baby out!!
