Will I Ever Go Into Labor!!!!!!!
Posted: 03-20-07 18:37pm

Hello! I am 40 weeks pregnant and this is going on FOREVER! Here's my problem...I need hope and I'm getting frustrated! My family has a history of dilation problems (never get past 4cm and end up in c-sections). I got checked today and they said I am not even 1cm and they won't induce until after 42 weeks unless my cervix becomes more favorable. I've tried it all- everything to self induce this labor (at least the safe things).

PLEASE- Has anyone ever been told they weren't dilated this late in the game, but went into labor soon after anyways? I need some good news from someone or I really might start believing I WILL be the only woman to be pregnant forever! Or maybe you went into labor before dilating???!!!!

technically you are not overdue until 42 weeks.

baby will come when baby is ready.

don't worry about past problems for other relatives - you are not them.

once labour starts the cervix starts to dilate more and efface.
the doctors in the hospital will be able to help you.

in fact trying to induce labor is probably the worst thing for dilation problems as you will want the cervix to be exposed to your natural prostaglandins and the pressure of baby comming down will help dilate and efface the cervix.

try to relax as much as possible and be patient hun, all good things come to those who wait.
