CTS or Raynaud's disease? loss of sense of touch & smell
Posted: 03-20-07 19:24pm

I just like to know what it is that I have because I've been to numerous doctors who don't have the slightest idea. My Rheumatologist claim that I was perfectly normal and healthy based on his nerve tests. Doctors tell me its psychological but I know it's much more than that. Please diagnose me.

Raynaud’s phenomenon is functional disorder of peripheral blood circulation. Raynaud’s phenomenon can be either a primary condition (idiopatic) or a secondary condition (due to another disease). Secondary Raynaud’s is usually due to rheumatic disease or cancer.
Loss of a sense of touch and smell is a serious sign/symptom that something's going on... but only if the symptoms are confirmed with neurological tests. In your case, an objective neurological confirmation of loss of touch or smell has not yet been determined.
If after you request such examinations all the objective neurological and rheumatologic examinations are OK, then the remaining cause of the symptoms is probably anxiety, which is common for your age.
You can consult a neurologist to first check your symptoms via necessary examinations.
