Hi everyone. I was just googling for some
information on cancers and I found this
forum... so I thought this would be the
best place to gather some information
about what my girlfriend is going through.
She had non-hodgking lymphoma about 10
years ago, but luckily she received
treatment and survived. Nonetheless, she
always speaks about how horrible the
chemotherapy was, and how hard it was for
her to get back on her feet. I never
really thought she could get cancer again,
but I guess I was wrong. She had to move
away a couple of months ago and a few days
after that she told me that she had a lump
on her neck, just like the one she got
when she got sick the first time. We
thought it was nothing to worry about, but
in next few weeks she got lumps all over
her neck and her body started to itch
really badly, so she went to her old
oncologist, who told her that it was very
possible that she had non-hodgkings
lymphoma again or hodgkings disease =(
She went through a series of tests (blood,
mri, etc.) and the doctor discarded ANY
other possibility other than cancer. We
are just waiting for the biopsy results to
get his final diagnosis. As far as I know
this kind of cancer has a very low
mortality rate, but like anybody else who
has a loved one in this situation I can't
help being terrified. Does the fact that
it's the second time she has cancer makes
it even more dangerous to her life? And,
the fact that she has more swollen lymph
nodes now than 10 years ago makes it
worse??? Did we wait too long to go to the
doctor?? I still have a hard time
believing this is happening... she's only
24 and I was going to propose in May.
