Talking in my sleep? Neurotic disorder? Posted: 03-24-07 07:43am
i will start off by saying that i am on
medication for anxiety and stress and i
have been on this medication for close to
1 year now. however, for about 2 months
now i have been having an issue with what
i would call "blackouts". i am apparently
asleep but i have conversations, i
interact with my husband and children yet
in the morning i have absolutely no
recolection of any of the prior nights
incidents. this is affecting my
relationship as well because i seem so
concious that my husband thinks that i am
making believe so that i dont have to deal
with him. do you have any explanation of
what this could be and how i can remedy
the situation?
Given the pre-existing conditions you
describe (anxiety and obsessive-compulsive
disorder), it seems that you are already
experiencing some neurotic disorders .
These “night conversations with your
children and husband” that are not
remembered in the morning could be due to
a dissociative hysteric disorder. You'll
need to consult a mental health doctor in
order to work towards a correct diagnosis.
Temporal epilepsy and simulation have to
be excluded before confirming hysteria.
