Birth Control to Start Period? Posted: 03-26-07 09:54am
I gave birth to my son in mid January and
was recently prescribed birth control
pills by my Dr. I havent gotten my after
birth period yet (its been 10 weeks since
his birth which is normal) so I was
wondering can I start my pills with the
period week pills first then go to the
other ones? Or is there some reason I have
to start them the other way? The only
reason I ask is my period would be here
this week if I never gave birth.

You need to either start with the active
pills next sunday, and delay your period a
month, which is perfectly safe, or you can
wait until your period does come, and
start the active pills on the first day of
your period. If you do that, it doesn't
matter what day of the week it is.
Do not ever start with the placebo week;
that's just silly They're placebos,
they don't do anything, and they won't
make you get your period. So, either start
with the active pills next sunday, or,
wait until the first day of your period
and start the active pills then.
The placebos are for the end of the pack;
and you do have to take the pills in
order.
If you start the pills this next sunday,
you will need to wait one full week (until
the sunday after you start) before you can
finally have unprotected sex. If you start
the pills on the first day of your period,
you are safe immediately.

Is It Ok Posted: 03-26-07 12:56pm
Is it ok to start to pills to get my
period to start since I havent had one
since his birth then? As long as I start
the pills sunday with the right ones,
right?
I did that after my son, they gave me
birth control at my post partum checkup
and since i hadnt got a period yet i just
went ahead and started the pills according
to the package , well didnt wait for a
period. They wont harm you really. They
just advise waiting in case you may be
pregnant, you will know if u get your
period that your not and safe to take the
pills, i tore with my son so i know i
wasnt pregnant for plus my husband was at
basic training then, so as long as you
know 100% you arent pregnant it is safe to
take them.

My Main Posted: 03-26-07 13:10pm
my whole reason to get on them is to get
my period started again so when our 6
month wait is over in the healing process
we can stop taking them and try to get
prego again...is that still a smart idea
to kick strat my period so to say?
yeah i did that same thing with my son.
With my daughter i was breasfeeding so i
wasnt sure, but i ended up getting my
period right when my hubby got my birth
control so i was able to start it like
that with her, but i didnt wait on a
period to start the birth control with my
son, i just started it to get my periods
back on track.
