yeah thats what the total is-we dont pay that though cause of wic and public aid.

So with our wic we get 4 cans each check & it's $100 just for 4 cans of formula..

hey i know it sucks...we are on neocate ( my son couldnt even tolerate the amount of milk in alimentum) and its $32 for a little 14 oz can that is gone in about 2 days. we go though 16 cans a month total. wic gives me 8, and medicaid pays for 5, and then we usually have to buy one....but if it wasnt for wic, we wouldnt be able to pay for neocate....and my son would basically be forced to drink a formula he is allergic to. i hate wic sometimes, but i am really thankful for them.

.Same here! I hate dealing with the people at wic but we would be so screwed if we didn't get it. We'd basically both be working just to get formula & not be able to afford diapers or anything else Shocked

.Ours totals right around $400 a month that wic buys but this past month we had to buy a can because .Miss .Piggy's been eating more... That's almost our whole rent payment Shocked

wow!!! I guess i should consider myself lucky. I myself pay max 45 a month for it. but i guess if my aunt and grandma didn't help I'd be paying around 120 a month....

I am so very thankful for .w.i.c. for the first 6 months we got checks for milk, eggs, and juice...on top of .adriana's formula. Then once she hit like 4 or 6 mos (can't remember) she started getting checks for baby cereal too. Now that she's 1 she gets checks for juice, milk, eggs, cereal, peanut butter or dry beans, and cheese. Then during the summer they have farmers market checks, and with that you get x amount of $$'s (in form of check) to spend on fresh, .wisconsin grown produce. I know for sure if they give that to us this year, it will be mostly for .raspberries, they're .adriana's favorite!!

we pay less than $100 a month now. The amount of formula that he drinks is less. At his doctor's appt. we were told that he should be getting around 22 oz of formula a day at his age.

I thought cow's milk could be introduced after a year, but I really don't know if that's true or not.

She's fine, don't worry! I'm surprised they acted like that though.. Jenny's only in the 3rd percentile for weight.. she was weighed this morning. But she's always been tiny so she's healthy.

I was told you can introduce cow's milk when the baba is 1.. my nephew .Alex is drinking it now.

WOW.. formula is expensive down there! Its not as expensive here in Canada I guess. Is everyone buying the powder formula? I will be buying the liquid formula when the time comes. I found out that there is more bacteria content in the powdered formula, and I am not willing to take that risk with my child. It acually tells you on the can about the bacteria content. Not sure if you all knew that or not! Take care! Mary

.I'm gonna have to talk to .Kaylee's doctor next week when we go get her shots then because now .I'm wonding something.. Her doctor has to fill this paper out for .Wic in order to get the formula since it's a "special" kind or whatever. They have to put the reason why the child is on this kind of formula, how much is used a day & how long they are to be on it. Well on the sheet my doc filled out he had on it that .Kaylee is only suppose to be on it for 9 months. Well what am I suppose to give her after that? Normal .Similac again? That's why I was wondering when you're suppose to start milk Confused

my doc only gives me a prescription for neocate every 3 months. like the last one i got said until 9 months, so when he turned 9 months, i knew he still needed neocate, and i got another prescription for until 12 months. once 12 months comes im getting another one for until 15 months. its probably the same thing in your case. 9 months is just an estimation that they do for wic, because wic is cheap sometimes and they dont like having to pay for the expensive formulas for more months than they have to.
