i was feeding .gabe his bottle a little
bit ago & i dunno if he hiccuped or if
his stomach was just upset or what, but he
spit up sooooooo much. like, it was almost
like he seriously threw up.
.i did give him some formula a few hours
ago.. & then we brought him over to
the trailer for a little bit & the
road there/back is super bumpy..
so i don't know if any of that did it..
he's fine, now. he doesn't feel warm &
he's acting fine.. he's still really
hungry. but i really didn't like it. it
was eeeverywhere.

Alyvia projectile vomited just about every
day for a few weeks. It scared the hell
out of us. She eventually outgrew it. Her
pediatrician told me that a lot of newborn
babies have this problem. Something to do
with the opening beteween the
esophagus/stomach being immature?
Something like that. Don't quote me.
A few things you might want to try:
-make sure he's put to your shoulder immediately after he
finishes
-try to get a burp out of him - try
patting him or rubbing his back for at
least a full minute
-if he sleeps in a crib, roll a towel
under one end of the crib
mattress to keep his head elevated (or let
him sleep in his carseat)
*edited to add*
.this won't make it stop entirely, but it
should help quite a bit. You're doing
great!

dear that is what we call projectile
vomit!!!!!!!!! welcome to mother-hood.
He is fine....it's normal....but if it
happens too much too often then contact
your doctor's office. but once in a blue
moon is ok. I can count on one hand that
she did it during the first 4 months...now
she has only done it once in the last 4
months.
he will be fine, i just wouldn't wait too
long to feed him depending on the amount
that came out....if he emptied his tummy
then he will be hungry.
i am sure he is perfectly fine.

Aww poor little guy! I remember .Kaylee
used to spit up huge amounts like that, it
got to the point with her though where we
had to get her formula changed. But like
.Laura said, my doctor said it was normal
for newborns too, it's just that .Kaylee's
went on for a while.
.Good advice .Laura

thanks guys. it scared me!
.he ate a little over 2oz & i tried to
burp him but he wouldn't, so i started
feeding him again & he ate another 1oz
& then threw up.
it's only the 2nd time he's spit up since
he's been born. i'm hoping he doesn't do
it again.

Ooh ooh, I just thought of another one.
It's possible, because he's taking the
milk from a bottle, that he's sucking down
some extra air with that. You might want
to stop halfway through the feeding to
burp him, then put him back on the
bottle.
I had to do that when we switched boobs.
God, that was a long time ago.
I know it's scary! my
first thought was "oh .god, we're heading
straight to the hospital!" but I promise
you, he's okay. The doctors won't even
worry unless he starts losing weight
(which I doubt since you're little miss
wonderboobs over there! ) and they'll
probably give you the same advice.

babies spit up, and its normal. its only
not normal when it becomes painful for
them like in my sons case, he has acid
reflux. if your baby is not in pain and
not refusing bottles then dont worry too
much about it.

.Gabe probably just got a burp caught
between formula (if that makes sense) and
since you say he doesn't spit up much, I
think he's just fine. You're a great
mommy! I can't wait to hear how your
.w.i.c appointment goes tomorrow!

I like burping Jaylon in a sitting
position. I sit him up with one hand
under his chin (your hand will look like a
backwards .C). It looks like you are
choking him, but....you just pat and rub
his back like you would if he were on your
shoulder. .B.U.R.P I think they come up
easier.

I used to burp .Kaylee the same way
sitting up holding her underneath her
chin.. I thought it was so much easier to
get her to burp that way!

It comes right up and if they spit up you
see it immediately. People that are not
used to this give me funny looks, because
it looks like I'm choking the baby. I love
it. I have a really hard time the other
way

finn spit up like this every day from when
he was about 1 week - 3 weeks. i then
learned not to turn the vibration on for
his bouncy seat right away and not to turn
his swing on right away. i tried to keep
him upright for about 20 minutes after
eating and he'd usually be fine.
it was a mess though! i'm so glad those
days didn't last long.

.I know! I love it when we're out in
public somewhere & I burp .Kaylee like
that & .I'm getting looks from everyone
the whole time
Edited to add I made it sound like I still
have to hold her chin .. lol I don't
anymore since she sits up pretty good now.
