you know i used to think that a female gyn
was better but now that i have tried male
gyn i'm never going back to a female gyn
ever. I found the male gyn much more
caring and so much easier to talk with
than with the female physician. Which do
you guys prefer?

I've only had two pap smears and both of
them have been females, and I felt totally
comfortable with both of them

talkin to a 5 yr old little girl like i
wouldnt understand what he was saying if
he used adult terms. i guess i prefer

.the way your doctors related to you
probably had more to do with them as a
person than with them as a male or female.
.i have hard alot of people say they
aren't comfortable with a male gyno just
because they don't experience any of the
problems first hand. .this is how .i feel
as well. .i prefer a doc who has the
parts they are working on.

i agree with .opal.. i wouldn't ever see a
male obgyn. especially if it were during
pregnancy. i would much rather have a
doctor who is a woman & who has
children, so she knows what's really going
on & what .i'm feeling. same with just
regular gyno checkups. i'd rather have a
woman putting her digits up there!

I think that a male gyn knows as much as
the female even thought they don't have
the female organs. They are married and
therefore live intimatetly with a woman
and they have children too which probably
they delievered themselves so how come
they are not going to know. I don't think
female organs and pregnancy are a rocket
science that you just have to be a female
to know. I think to me is just like the
other person said, it's about the
personality of the doctor and how
comfortable they make you feel. I mean
like the female physician i had screamed
at me just because i wanted to change the
birth control pill. So you know I'm not
comfortable with a doctor like that. This
male gyn I went was such a sweet man i
felt I could tell him anything. He told me
he was going to even research in his books
if he had too to look for the best pill
for me. This is how i like to be treated
by a doctor.

lol! You know I prefer a man putting her
digits up there because I know he is going
to do exam and enjoy it, a woman won't
(unless she is lesbian).

He might know the anatomy and physiology,
but that does not mean that he actually
knows how it feels. He does not know what
a pap smear feels like exactly. I am sure
he can imagine it, but he does not know
like a woman would know. He does not know
what any of that stuff feels like first
hand.

I would not want my doctor to enjoy it too
much. They're supposed to professional
and doing a job, not getting all turned on
over there.

Not all male gynos are married. Both of
the females I had were unmarried. I can
understand that a male who was
married would have expereince, but I would
never assume that every male gyno is
married; thus, I wouldn't feel comfortable
with most of them.
I understand your bad experince, but that
had nothing to do with the doctor's
gender; she as just a bitch
I have been treated very well by both of
my feale gynos. Bedside manner has nothing
to do with gender. Thus, my preference
goes to a doctor that has the same parts
as me.

Male gyns can't get turned on like that.
Remember there is a nurse present during
the exam to watch over. Look think about
it, imagine you sticking your digits in
another womans bunny. Ugh!

While my experiences have been better with
the male doctors, I find it's just easier
for me to talk about my genital issues
with a man face to face.
And you are right that doctor i used to go
is a health forum

I always had female docs and then when I
went to .Family .Practice my regular doc
was out so I had to have a male. He was
great. I really didn't think about the
fact that he would get turned on by giving
a woman a pap. I'm sure in his case, if
you've seen one, you've seen them all.
When I was in the hospital having my son,
I had a male nurse giving me my care,
"Chuck". I though that was odd. Mike and
I laughed after he left that he seemed to
know more about the breast than I did. He
was good.
