My question is whould should I do about
the halo nevus. The halo is a little
smaller than a dime and has been present
for about 1 full year. It really bothers
me asthetically, but I am concerned that
if I remove it the resulting scar would
look worse. If I do remove it, is there a
certain type of procedure I should have
done? With the skin regain its pigment
whether removed or not?

You can remove a halo nevus if you want.
The skin with the nevus will be removed
and the edges of the formed wound will be
sutured to create a scar as small as
possible. The scar will be smaller or
bigger depending upon the nevus’s
dimensions, the surgeon’s skills and
possible complications such as infection.
There is no way you can avoid a scar from
forming. By preventing a wound infection
you can achieve a scar as small as
possible. You can consult a plastic
surgeon about this problem.
