If you are really worried about your
child's crying, do take him to the
er....but i would wrather wait for an
appointment with the dr over the er. It's
not too safe in the er...and you could sit
an wait for hours while your child is
sitting in the germs there and nothing end
up being wrong with him. some babies cry
more than others. Amelia would be sick as
a dog and not make a peep....then other
times she would cry and cry and cry and i
would take her in and nothing be wrong
with her.
I would call the doctor and ask to speak
with him and tell him what your child is
doing and let him deicide if you should
take him in.
good luck to you and keep us updated.

Yea id call and ask a nurse or something..
call the tricare number and make an
appointment right away just in case.. that
way you have the option if the symptoms
persist.

noone is mad at each other because of
*this* post. It goes back a couple of
months.
Different women have different perceptions
on how to care for their baby.
I'm glad he's doing better.
He doesn't have to necessarily have to
burp or fart for a gas bubble to pop.
Oh, and warm water has the same effect on
bubbles as mylicon!

yeah exactly ...unless they have visible
symptoms its most likely "colic" which is
accosiated with gas! like i said earlier,
rock him, bathe him and gripe water
..babies cry , thats what they do. he will
get over after the 3 months. good
luck...oh and i was not upset with natalie
shes the dr. of the site.

nat and nancy just accept that you guys
have different ways of bringing your kids
up.
you're both doing great and both have well
looked after kids so both of you must be
doing something right!
So, what's the point of arguing.
and for future reference for anyone - if
you have to ask if you should take your
baby to the doctor or er then the answer
is probably yes.
it is better to go to the er and find out
that it is "nothing" (read maybe trapped
gas or similar) than to leave it and risk
your babies health.
try the obvious first:
hungry?
wet/dirty?
burping?
too hot?
too cold?
wanting cuddles?
rocking (swing, stroller)?
etc...
if no improvement and you wonder if you
should go to the doc/er then the answer is
probably yes.

tricare sucks in the states lately,
usually u call first thing in the morning
to get a same day appointment, not sure if
it has changed. because if your sick that
day and call they give you an appointment
for a week later whats the point then if
your not sick anymore? i think tricare has
to redo its little system there. Here u
call and u can get a same day if available
or the next day etc. All this week i guess
cuz its spring break and all the kiddies
are out they are doing walkin only from
8-4pm. Joseph had colic. coulda been
something more but at the time we had no
medical insurance for him . And just went
to the health department. 3 mths it
carried out, it was horrible. We tried
everything in the book i mean everything.
In the end the gripe water is what helped
over most of the others.
Jordynne went through a phase of crying
around 5-6 wks , turns out it was the
breastfeeding not sure if i was eating
right or making enough milk etc. but she
switched to formula and now is totally
fine.

Have you tried tape recording him crying
and playing it back to him? It may sound
crazy but it's a developmental thing.
Babies will recognize their own voice and
it often calms them. It might be worth a
shot.
