Chronic fatigue w/low sex drive Posted: 04-04-07 01:29am
Hi i'm 18 years old and have been tired
constantly now for over 3 years. Its not
just like normal sleepyness I really feel
like I have to lay down and nap half way
through the day. I eventually went to the
dr about 8 months ago and she took blood
tests and said I have gilberts syndrome
and can be helped by eating regular meals,
lots of water etc... I have been trying
that but I must admit i'm not that good at
keeping it up... That may be why i'm
still feeling like this but i'm just
wondering is there anything else I can eat
or do to avoid having the iron injections
because i've heard it hurts lol! ? ? ?
Although if thats what it takes... Also
my sex drive is so unbelievably low...I'm
just not bothered and have no energy. Its
not my boyfriend he's amazing, i'm also on
the pill and have asked my clinic to
change it to see if it makes any
difference but 3 months into it there is
no change...
Although my boyfriend is sticking by me it
must be frustrating for him as well as
me.
Given the symptoms you report (sleepiness,
tiredness, low sex drive…), you could be
experiencing depressive disorder. Birth
control pills may cause depression or can
contribute to its development. Gilbert
Syndrome (congenital hyperbilirubinemia)
can’t cause such symptoms. Some organic
disorders like anemia can cause the same
symptoms so you can request standard blood
analyses from your primary health care
provider: blood count, hemoglobin,
sedimentation etc. If the blood analyses
are OK, you may consult a mental health
professional for help in treating possible
depression.
