Pimple On Gum Right Above Front Tooth
Posted: 08-28-03 09:53am

Hi all,

was wondering if anyone could tell me what this was.

The other day I got what looked like a little white pimple on my gum right over my right front tooth next to that little piece of skin that connects the gum to your upper lip. I pushed at it and it quickly popped although nothing really came out of it. Occasionally I get what feels like a little bump behind the gum over that tooth but it doesn't hurt. Sometimes when I get a sinus infection that tooth feels pressure but otherwise it never hurts. I was at the dentist about 6 months or so ago and he took x-rays and said everything was fine, so I am really not sure what it is.

Like I said, the tooth never hurts except feeling pressure when I get sinus infections, so I don't know. Sad

i thought it may be some sort of herpes or some such thing, but I was tested for std's after my last partner so it can't be that either.

I have obsessive compulsive disorder so frankly I have been obsessing over it for the past two days but the dang thing doesn't hurt and I don't sense anything's wrong so I am curious as to what it was.

Any help would really be appreciated. Thank you sooooo much!

You might want to go back to the dentist, sometimes this is an indication to a dying nerve root. Especially if you start to notice a little puss ousing out of it or if there is a bad taste in your mouth.

You have an abcessed tooth. The nerves inside the tooth are infected. The reason you haven't had any real pain is because it has been constantly draining.

You need to have a root canal. If you went to a dentist who didn't see anything, I would go to another.

Well I talked to another dentist type and he said that since nothing came out of the pimple it was more than likely a canker. He said that people get them quite often and it's only happened to me once.

He then told me that if it happened more often and started to become painful to come see him but as of now, not to worry about it.

Lou,sounds like you need a new dentist!A gum boil is an infection. And to the author of this post, please see another dentist who has looked at your mouth and taken an x-ray.I agree that it sounds like you need a root canal.Best to you!Patty

My first thought was a canker. I get them all the time - either on the inside of my bottom lip or back where my tonsils used to be. I scratch them with my fingernail, they pop and go away. They are harmless just a bit annoying. As long as you aren't in pain, I wouldn't worry about them.
