Strange Headaches

Any ideas on the following please...

I've had cluster migraines, etc. in the past. When I was delivering my son the pain during pushing became such that it felt like my head would explode. That seems normal to me. However, a week later, we received traumatic news on another family member and that pain came back to the point of being like an ice pick being jabbed into my head and it reoccurred during the subsequent week. My speech became slow during the onset of the headaches and at times I would need to kneel down.

The headaches have lessened but at times flare up to the same level, especially when accompanied by stress. Is this normal for tension type headaches?

Anyone?

Nope, that is not a tension headache.

It may be a blood pressure headache. Do you monitor your blood pressure at all?

I have also heard of "ice pick" headaches and the pain is described similiarly.

However, I think that you need to see a neurologist. If it is interfering with you speech it definitely needs to be looked into. It could be having a greater effect on you than you realize. Good luck and keep us posted!
