Herpes or yeast infection? external genitals very sore...
Posted: 04-06-07 13:58pm

I have taken medication 3x and now have extreme itching and white discharge.
I am very raw and irritated on external genitals and I now have three sores, but they are not oozing and they are in the area that I have "clawed at". I am wondering if I have possible now have a yeast infection which I have never had before or could this something much worse like Herpes.

Flagyl (metronidazole) is used for treating genital infections with anaerobe bacteria or the parasite Trichomonas. Sores are not typical for yeast infections but can be found in herpes infections. You SHOULD visit your gynecologist. A vaginal examination and microbiological smear from the vagina are the recommended protocol for identifying the cause of the possible infection. A PAP-test can be also done.
