Dairy Allergy? Posted: 04-06-07 17:12pm
Hi, I am wondering if anyone can help me.
I seem to have recently developed some
food allergies.. when i eat food sometimes
my heart beats very rapidly (and i feel it
in my neck) and my cheeks feel very hot
and tight. Often about an 1/2 to 1 hour
after eating even a tiny bit of chocolate,
i get severe pain my my belly. I have
been checked for celiacs and have had
thyroid checked too but dr said that
everything came back perfect!! Im confused
something is definately no agreeing with
my body, I am trying to eliminate dairy
but it is hard. Often i will eat something
and then look at the packet and see it has
milk solids in. Is there an easier way to
diagnose dairy allergies?
I also have a funny reaction to alcohol..
My heart beats very fast and i can get an
instant headache and need to go to sleep
If anyone can shed some light it would be
greatly appreciated.

maybe you have an allergy to caffeine or
something. I'm really not too sure what
it could be. I'm sorry.

I do agree with the other poster you might
be allergic to caffine if one has lacto
tolerance (allegy to dairy products) the
normal reaction is diarrhoea try stop
taking food which contains caffine some
choclates do have caffine too.

lactose intolerance and an allergy to
dairy are two entirely different things.
lactose intolerance is when you are
sensitive to the milk sugar (lactose), you
cant properly digest that sugar.
a milk allergy/intolerance is when you
cannot digest the milk protein. it has
nothing to do with the lactose.

You could have multiple food allergies,
your symptoms are definitly signs of it.
Just because your celiac test came back
negative doesn't mean you don't have a
gluten intolerance; those tests are never
100% You should keep a food journal and
record your responses to the foods you are
consuming. Easing your pain may simply be
strict avoidance of those particular
foods; I myself have been diagnosed with
17 food allergies; and avoidance is the
only way to ensure relief. You'll have to
get used to reading food labels before you
consume and may have to become a bit
fanatical about always asking whats in
this or that but when you are feeling
better its entirely worth the extra
effort. Good luck!

Thank you heaps for all your replies..
keep them coming, i have been wondering if
it is possible to have food allergies to
more than one thing. I have had a great
few days, when i have been very carefull
what i eat. However, there is still
chocolate in the fridge from easter (My
children eat very slowly!) and i had a
little bit last night, plus we shared
nachos last night, with cheese... So this
morning was not pleasant!!! Still i will
learn what i can and can't eat and
chocolate and cheese seem to definately be
on my hit list! Thanks again
