Starting birth control: did I do it right? Posted: 04-08-07 11:41am
I just started yasmin birth control march
the 16th, and I had gotten off my period I
think around a week before that. I haven't
started my period for this month yet and I
was wondering if maybe starting the birth
control could've thrown it off at all??
I've had all the symptoms, i've been
cramping and my face has broken which are
my two main ones, but I still haven't
started, im in the middle of my 3rd week
on the pill.....Any ideas of whats going
on??

Ideally, you should have started the birth
control pills the day when your last
period started... not a week later.
Hormonal contraception may not be
efficient now. Your next menstrual period
should occur when you are taking the last
7 pills of the pack (28 pills total per
cycle). That means that you will probably
bleed somewhere between the 6th and the
12th of April. If you don’t get your
period during that time... take a
pregnancy test to exclude possible
pregnancy. If the test is positive, you
are probably pregnant and then you should
visit a gynecologist. If the test is
negative you may continue taking
contraceptive pills by starting a new
pack.
