Monster! Posted: 04-08-07 15:41pm
A couple of years ago I went to a
nutritionist with my then undiagnosed HG,
she said I had candida and for 8 months I
stuck to the most rigid, awful diet
spending £80 per month on supplements.
Not surprisingly it didn't work. I then
tried kineasiology and I think I
convinced myself that I was better.
Anyhow, a year and a half later my syptoms
are worse then ever.
I should really eat every two hours, and I
know it should be a well thought out
balanced snack, but I must admit I am
still feeling hard done by from the
restrictions of 8 months of eating
cardboard (well, practically anyway)!
I tried cutting out carbs as that's what
the book "hypoglycemics for Dummies"
advised and started the diet. I have never
felt so awful in my life and not just a
case of "you'll feel worse in the first
week then you'll get over it", I was
shaking, nearly crying and no amount of
protein would bring by levels back up.
I have tried so many things over the years
and my diet now is healthy. I understand
the sugar cycle and know that complex
carbs are the way forward, but I just feel
so unmotivated by it all and really need a
kick of the A**. I know that I am the only
one that can do it, but I guess I'm on a
bit of a downer about it.
I have recently given up drinking and can
kind of even cope with the fasting HG bit,
but the reactive HG is awful, I turn from
a nice friendly person into a monster,
help, soon I'm gonna have no friends left!

It sounds like your case may be pretty
severe, and unfortunately it may take a
few months before you notice significant
change. Question though, how many
carbohyhdrates are you eating per day and
what is the source? That book is okay,
but there are numerous mistakes in it.
They suggest in there, for example, that
eating beans is good. Wow, no it's not at
all. If you've been doing this, there's
your first problem.
