Pregnancy On Pill???
Posted: 04-09-07 08:16am

I've recently started taking microgynon 30 and i've followed the instructions word for word. (taking the first pill on the first bleeding day of my period, taking the pills at the same time of day etc). I take them same time everyday. I dont use any other form of contreception mainly because as a couple it is prefered and it says your over 99% protected. Ive heard some hellish stories about woman taking it religiously and still getting pregnant. Im very scared and confused. I had sex during the 7 day break then got emergancy contreception 22hrs later due to my paranoid thoughts. I have had some brownish discharge and slight period pains...Am I ok? Not pregnant right? Does anyone know what the signs would be if you were pregnant yet still taking the pill...???
Thank you...Please help

It is possible to get pregnant on the pill because, like you mentioned, it is not 100% effective even when taken exactly as directed. Chances are you are not pregnant if you take the pills every day and at roughly the same time every day. You are also protected during the sugar pill week. However, if you want some extra protection, you can easily use a method of non-hormonal birth control in addition to your pill.

The symptoms of early pregnancy are the same as symptoms of many other things. They are often the same as an oncoming period or of the pill itself, so you can't rely too much on symptoms when trying to find out whether or not you are pregnant.

In the future, don't post the same issue twice. It makes it really confusing when people are having two different conversations about the same thing in two different threads.
