Hi All, Needing Help With Hypoglycemia Problems ! Posted: 04-09-07 11:01am
First off , sry if the english is not
perfect english is my second language , im
french canadian .
Hello
My name is Etienne , I am 22 and ive been
suffering from hypoglycémia since I am 17
(all started after a mononucleose). I
recently change my alimentation, in the
last 6 months i havent drink alchool
except on 2 occasion. I try to eat at
regular hours, generaly 6 times a day. I
dont eat sugar or rafined flour, Only
complex carbs (integral bred). But even
after all that im still struggling with
general fatigue, sudden drop in energy
level, sensation of being out of it and
many more including anxiety.
The change in my regime helped alot and I
would say its keeping me alive but even
after all those change i still feel really
sensible and its really blocking me in my
everyday life. Sometimes i can go to bed
feeling perfectly good (no symptomes,
feeling like a king my mind and body are
working fine) and then wake up in the
morning and feel like its the worst
morning of my life.
I am also waking up early and doing
regular exercises, but all those changes
did not have the impact i wish they had
when i start doing them ( like i said,
they sure did help alot, but not enough).
I am 22 , i use to be a really confident
good looking guy but because of all the
problems hypoglycemia is causing i lost
great deal of confidence , im starting to
go bald, i look skinnier , my skin doesnt
look as healty as it use to, and all of
that sucks and it feel as if I CANT do
nothing to change it and thats the hardest
part.
I look at the stan diet and i was
wondering if anyone had good result with
it and if i should try it.
P.s My hypoglycemia is diagnoste , my
blood test show a huge drop in sugar level
2 hours after i eat and a generally low
level of blood sugar for the rest of the
time , like if my body couldnt raise it
back after the drop.
(my dad also been strugulling with
hypoglycemia problem troughout his life).
Heres a few thinbgs i might be doing
wrong
- Tendencies to over eat at dinner time
and supper ( i generally eat average to
big meal there)
- I eat dairy product including milk ,
cheese always lower then 20 percent milk
fat. (Dairy product are the easiest way to
get your protein amd i was surprised to
see stan didnt use it in his regime)
- I eat integral bread and usually i try
to balance my snack with 1-2 portion of
protein (nuts, cheese....) and 1 of carb
(piece of bread brown rice ...)
- I often take a nap at the end of the
afternoon were my wenergie is at the
lowest. Any tought on that ?!
THINGS I WOULD LIKE TO CONTROL
- Waking up and feeling good in the
morning for once
- Not having to worry all the time abouth
how i will feel in an hour
- Stabilising everything , knowing i can
depend on my body during a date a dinner,
when i exercise or anything else.
Is there any hope ? any of you know anyone
who cleared up there hypoglycemia and can
now have a normal life with the
occasionnal drink with friends from time
to time?
Im willing to be patient and take the time
but i want to feel like a real man again ,
i mean if i had a strong healt in the past
theres no reason why i couldnt get back to
it.
Thanks in advance for all the answer
Etienne

First off, don't drink, it will keep you
sick and ruin your progress. I've known
some patients who have taken weeks to
recover from trying alcohol. My diet is
very, very extreme, and really the only
diet out there that will correct the
saw-tooth curve type of reactive
hypoglycemia, which it sounds like you
have. If your sugar drops every two
hours, you have it. The fat content,
however, I don't think is a good idea, I
have a new diet now that I am going to add
to this forum soon. There are good
recommendations in there, though.
Overeating really should't be a problem,
though you shouldn't be doing it. I try
to eat more protein the last meal of the
day and less carbohydrates.
Carbohydrates, later in the evening,
should be coming only from vegetables. If
you're eating whole grain bread (be
certain it says 100% whole grain on the
package, otherwise it isn't), you should
not be eating it past 4PM I'd say. Cheese
is fine, I suggest to avoid milk because
it's basically a simple sugar. If you
look at the label, it will say around 14g
of carbohydrates, and then below that
you'll see the same grams of sugar.
That's because all of the carbohydrates
are sugar. Milk products are only to be
used in soured form (ie cheese, yogurt
with not additives only plain, kefir,
etc.). Plain milk can give you problems,
unless you can purchase it raw, which
isn't easy to find now. What is your
current carbohydrate intake and where does
it come from? List some foods you eat.
It can take over a year to feel like
yourself again, but I'll bet you're making
some mistakes somewhere in there. If
you're ever able to drink alcohol again,
it will be in very, very small amounts and
not for a long, long time. Keep drinking
it and you'll never get better. If you
think you need to drink alcohol to have
fun, you need to rethink your life.
