I posted a doctor question a few days
ago.
I'm just wondering if anyone out there has
any info or advice.
For the last 4 weeks or so, I've been
having very mild sensations like a little
pin prick anywhere on my body or a drop of
water. Its not constant at all but I'll
feel it several times through the day for
a second.
I asked my doctor a couple years ago and
she said these sensations can be a normal
(everyone gets them ) but also exacerbated
by chronic anxiety in my case.
I was advised to relax and wait and see if
I develp more symptoms that would require
investigating.
Sounds like good advice but I'm still
worried.
I keep worrying about MS. I don't feel
like I have other symptoms. But also if
you read the sites over and over, you can
start to think you do have vague symtoms.
Its funny. I have read the symtoms to a
cople close friends and they have said,"
Oh my god, I've had that. I feel always
tired, or the heat bothers me and makes me
feel sick, or my legs sometimes go numb".
ack, how do you know whats just cause for
worry??
I have a lot of back tension and I wonder
whether the tension can effect nerves,
causing these sensations?
I know so many of you are experts here and
have done so much research. Do you have
any thoughts??
Thank you!!!

Your Symptons..... Posted: 04-17-07 20:17pm
lHello
I have had the exact symptons with anaxity
years ago. I have MS now for 11 years and
let me discribe to you my symptons, if
that is alright with you.
Here's just a few: Mental Confusion like
I can't follow a one hour program,
depression and I mean severe, pain in my
head Rt side, neck and down to my right
arm including inbetween the shoulder
blades, I feel the whole body as if it
were shaking inside, my legs feel like
needles are poking in them for hours, you
know the type where you have to keep on
moving them.fatigue, I feel as if I can't
even make myself a meal and of course,
there is anger, with myself or with the
disease, I don't know other than I hate it
when other family members tell me that I
can do that, yeah right. I use a cane
just to steady myself when walking.
Those are the just of what I go throughy
even though I give myself meds daily and
shots three times a week. Here's the
kicker, the only way to find out if you
have MS ot other diseases is for it to be
active. That's how it showed up in my
spinal puncture and in the mri;s I had. I
will tell you one thing from 11 years of
experience, if you feel you have something
wrong, make sure the doctor checks you out
to ensure there is nothing wrong.
The feelings you have, I had with an
anaxity attack. Those attacks don't last
forever. Atkeast not in my case.
Good Luck and I hope everything works out,
ok?

thanks Jerry,
I'm sorry you have been going through all
that you have! It sounds very frustrating
and I'm sure painful. For all that I worry
and obsess about having something wrong
with me. Its a reality check to hear from
people who do live and function well for
11 years or more with these problems.
Thank you for your response.
I know I suffer from chronic anxiety and
health concerns. Last summer I spent 3
months really thinking I had breast
cancer.
Some people get very upset with me.
Its just hard to know what came first, the
symptoms or the anxiety. The sensations
feel very real.
So far I don't have fatigue, heat
sensitivity, mobility changes or numbness
or eye peoblems.
I have these mild "ting" or "spark"
feelings that happen anywhere in my body
for a split second. I also think that if
it is anxiety, I will keep feeling them
while I'm concerned about them. Its a
vicious cycle. I try to stop worrying but
then I feel them and start to worry.
I'm angry that I've let myself be
debilitated by anxiety. Worrying so much
that I cause myself to feel ill, not enjoy
going out or friends/family, not able to
relax or do my work sometimes.
Thank you again.

Your Ill Feelings Posted: 04-18-07 23:59pm
Hello Again,
First of all, I would like to suggest that
you never allow anything to interfer with
life. It's kind of like that man who went
into the docto to tell him how much his
wrist hurt and as he showed the doc he
said it hurts when I do this. The doctor
replied by saying, don't move your wrist!
That wasn't quite the same example but
with our lives it almost rings true. The
more we allow anything to make us feel ill
or bad, we just think about something else
and soon the feeling goes away.
Please, don't take me wrong, if you have
something that has been bothering you,
don't allow the doctors to do what I went
through:
For the first ten years of this disease, I
had one doctor tell me that it was in my
mind, I went to San Francisco and say one
of the best doctors in the world and guess
what he told me? Your right, he said
there was nothing wrong with me. Next I
went to a doctor in Stanford. Now this
one wanted me to stay for more testing. He
knew there was something wrong and he
wanted me there but I couldn't afford it
so back to Fresno I went.
Back in Fresno, a new doctor told me that
I might have ALS and did the testing right
away in his office to ensure that I
didn't. He told me that the problems I
was experiencing doesn't come from the
neck and even told me that the neck
surgerrg wasn't needed! He said what I
had apeared to be MS. He ran the MRI'S
but since the disease was not active, he
said that I had a pinced nerves in my
neck. Does that make any sence? I went
another year on pain meds like Morphine,
two different types which seemed to work,
so I thought it was a pinched nerve.
One day I went to this pain specialist
with my sister and she pointed out my
slurred speach and my problems walking.
The doctor refered me to another doctor
and after three MRI's and a spinal tap, he
gave me the good news. I have MS and
started me on injections. So far I feel
the after effects of that med, Rebif. I
think that I am worse now than before but
he asked me to go for another month. That
would only make three months.
You know my friend, what I am trying to
tell you in my leghtned way is that if one
doctor doesn't give you an explination to
what you feel, well you might have to go
to another. ONE THING, don't dismiss what
she said as wrong because this MS I had
anaxity attacks also and they carry the
same symptons as what you told me. I am
not a doctor, juist a friend trying to
help. You and if I understand your age,
your parents are going to have to make a
decission on what to do. Make sure to
tell everyone what you are going through
including the doctor. One question for
you if it is alright, has anything changed
in your life in the last year?
You got most of my story and I hope that
you rely on someone who can make an
informed decission, OK? Take care of
yourself and keep me informed as to what
is happening, please.
Bye for now,
Jerry

Thank you Jerry,
I'm not too young...ha ha, I'm 35. I've
had anxiety and panic for many years now.
I have talked to my doctor several times.
The last time I saw her it was because I
thought I had breast cancer.
I try to not let these fears get in the
way of my life but they do from time to
time. I find the best thing is to keep
very active.
I am very thankful that I have the energy
to get out and walk when I feel anxiety.
I felt this tension and tingles about 2
and 1/2 years ago after my father died
and I found it very traumatizing.
I do have some other changes in my life at
the moment and another illness in the
family that may also be contributing to my
anxiety symptoms.
I'm not sure that I have symptoms at the
moment that suggest I need
further testing??
I guess I will have to wait and see.
Did you have other symptoms in the
beginning?
I guess anxiety and stress can cause these
strange feelings.

Anaxity Or What????? Posted: 04-19-07 12:12pm
I think the hardest thing whan it comes to
a doctor is the guess work. You tell her
all your symptoms and she combines all of
them and comes up with a diagionosis. As
far as breast I thought that I had it also
cancer because of a large lump in both
breasts. After seeing the approiate
doctor, and whatever that thst womem go
through every year or two to ensure they
don't have breast cancer, I went through
blood work and that terrible tesl where
they literially compress your breast until
they are in the picture. I tell you, when
a woman says she doesn't want that test, I
have a new perceptive on what they say.
Never again will I just come out and say,
you need the test so go and get it.
Back to your breast cancer....if you are
able to see the proper doctor, by all
means go. Maybe you will find out what I
did. Men after a certain age grow these
"lumps" in their breasts. When you touch
them they hurt. So I guess what I am
saying is not only will you have breasts
like mine about the size of a B cup but
there will be pain also. In my case, it
was normal for what was happening. As for
you, you need to talk with your doctor and
I mean talk, so that a plan can be drawn
up to find out what is going on. I have
found that it is easy for us to self
diagionase ourself but are we right? Of
course not. Talk with your doctor and
work out a plan that will be beneficial
for the both of you, alright????
I hope in some way that I was a help????
Take care my friend and I hope to hear
some good news in the future.
