Lupus And Pregnancy Posted: 04-10-07 01:34am
I have SLE and am on Cellcept. My
specialists have advised against falling
pregnant due to the severity of my Lupus.
I am looking into surrogacy, but am not
yet sure if I am completely infertile due
to chemo treatment undergone last year. If
so, then I will opt for a donor egg to be
used. I am also scared that the immune
suppresant Cellcept might cause damage to
the baby.
I would love to hear from anyone who has
Lupus and is currently on Cellcept and who
fell pregnant or who opted for other
options such as surrogacy.

I have tried 5 times and have never been
able to carry to term. I was not on any
meds at the time. The last one went to 7
months and I ended up in the hospital for
6 weeks w/ severe pre eclampsia. My blood
pressure was so high they feared a stroke.
Each time I was in remission and healthy
but being pregnant threw everything off
and put me at risk and I was looking at a
full blown attack. Everything would go
back to normal a couple of months ater
miscarriage. Be careful. There are plenty
of babies out there that need good homes.
Don't jepardize your health. Stay in close
contact with your doctor. Do not worry
about questions that you ask. The only
silly ones are the ones not asked.

Hey i know how you feel, my specialists
have advised me not to fall pregnant as
well, i really want a baby, so at the
right time im opting for surragacy or
adoption.....Believe me i dont want to put
myself through any risks, whats the point
i have a loving husband to think about, he
keeps me up when im down, so i guess
thinking about pregnancy at th moment is
not an option, but i know that keeping
healthy is an option, plus theres plenty
of kids out there who need homes......
God bless

Success stories?? Posted: 02-10-08 14:14pm
I have Scleroderma (similar to Lupus) and
have been advised the same thing by most
doctors but have had a couple that have
said go for it since I am aware of the
risks. I am opting for adoption also as
fear of harming myself and I want to be
around to see my children grow up. But,
if there are success stories out
there...BRING THEM ON!
