Question About Health Insurance Posted: 04-10-07 17:24pm
I have been seizure free for many years
and am looking into buying health
insurance, (im self employed). I was
wondering if anyone knows of any good
health plan they would recommend. Right
now my seizure related med bills total
about $2000. per year so I consider myself
lucky but maybe I'm wrong I'm not sure
maybe I won't qualified for anything worth
having just on the basis of that alone.

Health Insurance And Seizures Posted: 06-07-07 16:47pm
I'vd had this problem myself. My hubby
and I are self Employeed. Finding
Insurance for me was great. All the
different ones took our money every month;
but, they also denied my coverage stating
that any time I would go to see doc is was
Seizure related. Pre-existing Health
conditions are a problem for the Health
Insurance Industry.
It wasn't until we found Kaiser. Kaiser
asked us all the same Q's that any other
HI would. The difference is they looked @
seizures as a reason this person needed
HI. My Medical History was reviewed by
their "Board of Doctors (or who ever is on
the board)". When the review was finished
they sent us a Health Coverage that
actually covered me seeing doctors
(regardless whether it was seizure related
or not). We've been with Kaiser for 21
years now. They've done test after test
on me (24hr EKG and the whole bit). If we
didn't have Kaiser, I could not afford to
take the meds that have given me some type
of control.
Life Insurance... hasn't been so easy.
I'm still unable to obtain it b/c of my
pre-existing Medical condition of
Seizures.
