So i'e read that by 28 weeks you should have gained 3/4 of the weight that you will gain by full term. I'm 29.4 weeks and have gained 14lbs is that a normal amount or not? i'm just wondering because to me that doesn't seem like alot for this far into a pregnancy but my midwife hasn't said that there is a problem.

if your mid wife is happy and if baby seems ok then there probably isn't anything to worry about.

I hadn't gained any weight by almost 19 weeks but then I'm not skinny by any means.

Thanks kia hunnie! I was just checking because people further behind me have gained in the 20's and i was like hmm am i normal? I guess it could have something to do with .Mika being small and the fact that every woman in my family has never carried much amniotic fluid

Unless your doctor/midwife seem concerned I wouldn't worry about it. I am 21 weeks and have only gained about 10 pounds.

just had a flick through some sites and overall (40 weeks) the average recommended weight gain is 25-30/35 (depends which site you read) pounds depending on your starting weight.

and as you rightly say, you have family history of low volume amniotic fluid, small baby

remember this is for full term pregnancy - not where you are now.
I know that's not a great help but - I think you're within normal =)
Quote:
· If you are normal weight before pregnancy:
Gain 25 to 35 pounds during pregnancy.

· If you are overweight before pregnancy:
Gain 15 to 25 pounds during pregnancy.

· If you are underweight before pregnancy:
Gain 28 to 40 pounds during pregnancy

I wish I was the same!!!!! LOL! As long as baby is healthy and gaining weight you will be ok. The doctor may have you start eating more or tell you to increase your caloric intake though.
I am 20weeks and I have gained about 10 lbs so far, and I was already a bit big to begin with!!! Rolling Eyes Ahh, well - more sweat and more workouts for me once baby is here! Wink

Your all doing better than me! I had already gained 14 lbs by the time I went to my first appointment and 12 weeks. Since then however I have only gained like 2 lbs. Seriously, I don't know what happened!

Your doing really good I think it has to do with where you are gaining the weight and how much you weighed before you got pregnant. Im 31 weeks and have gained 20 pounds I still fit into my regular clothes but I also weighed 100 pounds before I got pregnant.

What amazes me though is that to me my weight gain just looks like it's on the belly and boobs more than anywhere else i've had a little on my hips and bum but not loads so i don't know where all this weight has gone!

I am 19 weeks and in my first three months I lost 2 pounds every month. My last check up I gained about 2 pounds on the 20th of April. Everyone is different, don't worry everything should be fine. Don't always go by what you read.... I will find out how much more weight i've gained on Friday....UGH! Most of it is all belly though!

I've probably got you all beat!! I've gained 45 pounds and I'm only 29 weeks! And I wasn't a lightweight to begin with. But my doctor says I'm healthy and all of my tests have cleared: no diabetes, haemoglobin is good, blood pressure is fine etc. (knock on wood). I'm gonna have a lot of work to do once this baby is here I guess, but so far my doc hasn't said a word about too much weight gain. I guess it just goes to show, yet again, that it's different for everyone.

I am glad you are doing well!!!

There are a few of us who have gained a lot of weight. I have gained around 37 pounds and I turned 29 weeks on Monday. My doctor doesn't care about my weight gain either because I am pretty healthy. I am not too concerned because my baby is doing well. I almost lost my baby at 13 weeks due to Premature Rupture of Membranes that have sealed.

When something like that happens, weight gain means absolutely nothing. Well, almost nothing. I can't fit into my previous maternity clothes and I do sometimes feel like a whale, but then I have to put things into perspective and just thank that I still have my little one inside of me!!

I am happy to hear that I am not alone! I am only 28 weeks and have gained 45lbs! It is soo hard carrying soo much extra weight. This is my second. I only gained about 30lbs my whole 1st pregnancy so this is definitely a switch for me. My 1st baby was 7 1/2 lbs! This baby is going to probably be at least an 8 lbs er Shocked
