Is anybody on stavelo. I am on miraxpexin and stalevo, worried about long term side effects. Aged 47 yrs, diagnosed with PD in Oct 06, right side affected, stiffness and tremours, seemed to be controlled with these meds, side effects such as increased weight loss, loss of appetite, insomania, anybody else same or similar. Question

Hi ashoka, I am on the same medication as you, I am 58 and was diagnosed just after I was 51. Used to be on sinemet plus, but when we moved to Crete three months ago I found out sinemet plus is not available here. Stalevo seem to work ok but am now at the stage where the drugs are wearing off before the next dose is due. I have lost weight since going onto these drugs and my apetite changes all the time. There are side effects with all parkison drugs I think. I have just seen a consultant at Heraklion Hospital who gave me a thorough examination and I now have to go for an MRI scan and a CT scan also numerous blood tests. My doses have been adjusted and hopefully now will have fewer periods of tremor onset and dyskanesia. Only just seen your message as have not had internet access for about four months. Hope all is going ok with you

I have had early onset Parkinsons since I was in my early 40's. I am now 59 and have recently had the deep brain stimulator put in. I take stalevo and Mirapex. The surgery had eliminated the dyskanesia completely and has helped with my coordination. I hope to be able to come off Stalevo and Mirapex in the near future. I still have some walking difficulty but hope with a few more adjustments this will be eliminated also. The surgery was scary but well worth the outcome.

Mom Also On Stalev
Posted: 01-02-08 20:42pm

It's called Stalev here in the Philippines. Dr. switched my mom 65/yo on Stalev after years on Sinemet. She suffered from stroke in October and we noticed that the tremors are GONE with Stalev but so is her mobility. with both PD and stroke, it is not easy at all. any suggestions on how we can help mom lose weight? her loss of mobility requires that we carry her to be able to move her around the house and it is such a struggle since she is very heavy (about 150 lbs i would think).

any suggestions? thanks!
