I am presently in my third pregnancy, and I have had my hair colored every time including highlights just a few days ago. I have always been ok as well as my children. I say go for it. Good luck with the new hair color.

From a hairdressers point of veiw, there is nothing wrong with coloring your hair. I work around hair color day in and day out. Doctor said that its fine for me to continue. The only thing you may want to take into consideration is that your hormones effect alot of things and your color may not come out the same each time becuse of that. If your nervous about coloring, just do some foils or a cap method. The color doesnt lye directly on your skin, eliminating all risk. Have fun, it will make you feel better too!!

Hormones And Hair
I have been highlighting my hair for about 7 years now, and I am 11 weeks pregnant. I tried highlighting my hair the other day like I always do, and it turned bright orange. Then I went to get it fixed by dying it dark brown and it is now red and orange. So just be careful

Play It Safe, Wait, If You Can Hold Off
There is not enough medical research on the effects on hair coloring on your baby, and some people say there is no problem at all with the current chemicals used in colorants, but most websites say to wait until after the first trimester. This is only 9 months out of your life - why take a chance that any kind of chemical could be absorbed through your scalp? (ever feel the tingly sensation on your scalp when you get your hair colored??) if you can't wait that long to color your hair, some sites suggest just getting highlights - which don't touch your scalp. And if you just can't wait to color your hair even after all the warnings... Go ahead and take the chance. Nobody really knows for sure. And that could be good or bad. Just like not everybody gets cancer when they smoke, but we all know that smoking is not good for you.

I have also heard to wait until the second trimester. It's a personal decision. I had a perm before I knew I was pregnant. Everything was fine, but the chemicals burned my scalp and forehead so bad. It was okay after it was washed out, but it never felt like that before. I should have known something was up. :p

I dyed my hair and it also turned out orange. Coloring your hair while pregnant is very harmful to your emotional health seeing as how you'll probably cry when you see your hair bright orange like I did. It's a little embarassing...
