Headaches, lightheadedness caused by HIV infection after sex Posted: 04-13-07 06:39am
I had unptotected relations with someone I
did not know about 5 years ago. Now I
have strange symptoms and have gone
through all of the above tests to try to
determine the cause. The latest symptoms
are light head, headaches that have now
lasted 24 / 7 for close to 3 months, and
overall uneasy "not normal" feeling. Also
strange pains in back of neck, throat and
jaw area. I have no other classis HIV
symptoms and have never been sick for more
than a day or two. I take flu shot on
yearly basis and never had negative
reaction.
I need some help as I feel this is a
physical condition, not a psychological
one, which my PCP is starting to think.
Should I have HIV check, it there any
possible chance based on this
description?
You can request a HIV test ,although a
headache and pain in the back, neck,
throat and jaw do not indicate an
HIV-infection. Additionally, you might
review your medical history with your
primary physician and request further
medical tests as s/he deems appropriate.
In the end, it might be possible that
these symptoms are mentally generated,
rather than true physical manifestations
of disease.
