That is really great. And who wouldn't
think that kind of promotion and 60K a
year is fantastic?
Congrats. Have you always wanted to be a
nurse?
My sister is a OB/GYN nurse and is very
good at it. My mother was a Respitory
nurse until she retired. I always thought
it was my destiny to go into the nursing
field too, but no way!!! I don't have the
stomach for it.
Good luck to you. It will be a great
thing for your and your girl.

I don't understand.
Why would an insurance company pay for you
to go to school to become a nurse?
I'd could understand if you worked in a
hospital and they were paying to further
your education as it would benefit them.
but I can't understand why a company would
pay to train you in a totally different
field tot he one that they want you for...

That is very common here. Many insurance
companies hire on rn's. And pay them quite
well. I thought that was common practice.
I just allways thought it would be so that
they can verify the legitity of claims.
Just a guess.

it's not a totally different field, I
work in disability meaning i work with
diagnosis, procedure codes, pre-existing
reviews, medical records, i deal with
doctors and facilities and hospitals
everyday. I dont' work in
auto/house/rentals/life insurances. I
work with medical records and illness and
accedents (not auto accidents...even
though we pay for disaiblity claims caused
by motor vehicle accidents). However, i
am not able to review medical records and
make decisions because i am not regestered
to. we have two .r.ns that work for us
now and they want to add another to the
team, so they are giving me the
oppertunity to further my education and
get a promotion.

Nope, I was just confused.
I've never heard of that is all.
It's not common practise in the UK, and I
didn't know the ins you work for were
medical ins, so I figured they were two
totally different fields of work.
I guess I learnt something today
