It is safe to take Tums, up to 5 tums per day. You cannot take Pepto at all during pregnancy.

Hope this helps.

no pepto

tums is ok, also you can try to eat small meals and drink water slowly, try pepermint and/or ginger, lay down and rest, take a shower

there are many things you can try, and know it doesnt last forever

Sorry your feeling so crappy. Try eating a few small meals a day. Maybe try snacking on some crakers when you start feeling hungry. I know getting to hungry can make you sick as well.

Make sure you drink plenty. Hydration is very improtant! Has the dr given you prenatal vitamins yet?

Aside from the morning sickness, how are you feeling?

tums are definitely ok- my doctor told me to take 2 of them every day as an extra source of calcium. so that's an added bonus if you do take them.

yea the doc gave me teh vitamins. been taking them sence like middle of last week.

otherwise im pretty good. im kinda tired all day ( fell asleep in class a few times this week, never done that before). aside from being emotional every so often, those are realy the only pregy things i have so far.

nother question ( kinda unrealted to morning sickness). is there a general time when i'll start showing? i know its difrent for everyone but is there a general time when most start showing?

If the morning sickness gets to bad there is medication for it, so you may want to mention it at you next appt.

Well I'm glad things (other than the m/s) aren't to eventfull.

Do you know exactly how far along you are? (for some reason I can't remember, Sorry Embarassed ) From what I remeber you aren't very far so it would still be to early to start showing. It is different for everyone. Some women will start showing the beginning of their 2nd tri others its the end.

My doctor told me pepto was fine to take while pregnant, and i took some maybe twice while i had morning sickness. and tums are fine too.

at your next appt, tell your doctor you've been having morning sickness and they should be able to prescribe you some medicine for it called phenagren. i had morning sickness from 6-14 weeks, so be prepared for feeling like crap every day! Laughing (although i hope yours is better than mine was).

i didn't start showing until right around 23 weeks, and only this week did a *stranger* mention something about me expecting (i'll be 28 weeks on monday).

if the morning sickness just showed up, you may want to think about switching when you take your pre natals, or completly switch the kind of pre natal, some can make you really sick, i know mine made me really sick when i took them in the mornings

some people start showing at 15 or so weeks others dont show until much later, personally, my family and i could tell i was getting noticably bigger at about 20-25 weeks, but just recently other people have started noticing, and even thats not much, most people still dont notice, im 34 weeks and 3 days today

My doc said .Tums were perfectly fine to take, but pepto was off limits. It contains aspirin.

I started to show at 18 or 19 weeks, but didn't *pop* until around 30 weeks. After that I exploded.

There isn't aspirin in pepto...

The active ingredient is Bismuth subsalicylate, and the inactive ingredients are: benzoic acid, flavor, magnesium aluminum silicate, methylcellulose, red 22, red 28, saccharin sodium, salicylic acid, sodium salicylate, sorbic acid, water.

Either way, I took pepto and my baba is perfectly healthy. It does say on the bottle to ask a doctor before taking if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. But like i said, my doctor said it was fine.

salicylic acid is the active ingrediant in asprin, so it does have asprin in it in a sence, sorry

maybe your doc said its ok, but most of the docs i know say its not, i know many that dont even recomend it for children

the main thing is she needs to ask her doctor, and until she does, if some doctors say not to or there is some reason to think she shouldnt then she should not take it, to be on the safe side until she can ask her doc

sorry if that sounds health forum, im just kinda annoyed by everyone always thinking they are right just because they were told something by someone, not everyone is the same and not every doc is the same, everyone needs to take that into consideration

Um, i never said she should take it. i only said my doctor said that *i* could take it. i didn't say everyone else's doctor would advise them the same thing. of course everyone has their own opinions, and i never said i was right about anything. i just said what i was told.

im sorry, i must have taken that the wrong way then, it just seemed to me like you were trying to be all rightious and what not and say the old "i did it and my babys fine so it must be fine and everyone can do it" thing

ive been really stressed out lately, and i know thats no excuse, but ive been taking pretty much everything the wrong way because of the stress and stuff

again im sorry if i took it the wrong way

but it does have asprin in it so narnar :p lol...im just kidding, trying to lighten the mood lol
