Blood / Bleeding after Hysterectomy
Posted: 04-14-07 08:05am

I had a total hysterectomy (cervix and uterus) vaginally jan 30 - on march 20 I started to bleed heavily and ended up back in surgery - i had a post op infection and a tear which was sutured - today april14th i noticed i had some bleeding . I have no signs of infection ( odor or chill malasie fever) but have been extremly tired. Im def going to have my doctor to an exam but to you think returning back to work in a week in my best interest and should I be concerned about this new onset of bleeding? Also is it normal to have contraction like pain with bowel movements post hystectomy - it's like going through labor.

Neither bleeding nor infection nor cramps are normal after a hysterectomy. I can’t speculate on the possible causes for these symptoms after the surgery without first knowing the reason for the hysterectomy. You must consult your gynecologist immediately.
