Baby-friendly Table Food Suggestions
Posted: 04-15-07 11:03am

Along with breastfeeding, we've been feeding .alyvia cereal mixed with a bit of stage 1 foods. But while we were on vacation, we decided to try feeding her a bit of table food. She's never liked her stage 1's but has always shown an interest in what we eat. I'd like to make a list of the foods we've tried (and if she's liked them) and see if you girls have more suggestions! She's 8 months old.

(all of the below have been offered in small bites and she's been supervised the whole time - along with lots of water in a sippy cup every 2-3 bites)

Rice (loves!)
Lettuce/cabbage (likes)
cheese (loves!)
tomatoes (loves!)
skinless grapes (loves!)
sucking on sweet and sour pickles (loves!)
soft pieces of crustless bread (loves!)
frosted blueberry poptarts (don't ask, it was a one-time freak thing... and she loves them Rolling Eyes)

there's more, but I can't think of it. I'll add to this list when I remember. We've also bought a few jars of stage 2 foods that we're going to try today.

trace absolutely refuses baby food and loves table food. there is no need for baby food. fresh table food is much healthier.

here are some things he eats:

chucks of sweet potato
rice bread
wheat/gluten free pancakes
broccoli
apple
pear
banana
avocado (its a super health food too!)
green beans

smoothies with blueberry and bananas/ and rice milk

I can't think of any little one that don't love spaghettio's. It'll be a mess. So make sure your camera is nearby. Laughing

Oni *loooves* spaghetti-o's! But make sure any canned food you get is sodium free. Or low sodium.

Be careful with bread. It's the only thing .oni chokes on. She's a heffer though and sticks the entire piece in her mouth.

Toast is another *great* idea.

Oni eats everything. And at 8 months, ate more table food than baby food.

Adriana loves rice too! Have you tried applesauce, mashed potatoes, soup....basically anything you can mash up for her will be better than baby food. Natalie said .trace loves avacado, that's very easy to squish...adriana also loves those. As long as it's something she can't choke on, she can have it! well, within reason...i.e, no candies or junk like that, which obviously you know about
.aly is growing up too fast!!

Oh and for the record, my daughter hates speghetti-0's......she ate them once, and we made a huge mess. I've tried off and on with them, but she won't eat them.

ewww... spaghettios smell like vomit! for that reason, finn will never even know what they are.

we're obviously not there yet, but what about mushy mac and cheese or ravioli?

aly is such a big girl! this makes me excited about giving finn table food but i don't think he's ready yet.

Yeah, I thought all kids like them too.....even tho I don't (but I'm not a little kid either!)

If .aly liked carrots in a jar (babyfood) then I bet she'd really like cooked, mashed carrots (or am I thinking of another baby that likes carrots? Confused)

But yeah, like .bridget said, mushy noodles are good and easy for little ones to smoosh with their gums. There's lots of possibilities! Just get ready for some fun diapers to change! LOL

Ooh yay pasta! My nephew *loves* anything like that. He'll eat loads now, he had some roast lamb and mashed potato with broccoli and gravy tonight.. basically what we all had but mashed up. He eats like a little horse.

What's angelhair by the way? Is that like thin spaghetti? Sorry if that sounds dumb.. I've just never heard of it over here!

Angel hair is thinner than thin spaghetti! It's super light and really yummy. It's my favorite kind of pasta. Mr.

I really like fresh sweet potato cut up and cooked in the oven with a bit of butter/margarine and 1/4 cup of orange juice. You cook it until it's tender (mushable for baby). It's really good. My girl always loved it like that.

i to this day hate spaghettios, i tired em with joseph he hated em lcky for me.
He loves apples, bananas, grapes, he tends to try and steal grapes out the fridge everytime i open it . he loves green beans too, peas is one thing he hasnt liked but jordynne had sweet peas baby food and ate the whole jar so shes different.
sometimes i get the fruit cups too with the mixed fruits, sometimes fresh fruits not available here , some fruits we dont even get so it sucks. i get excited when we have strawberries hehe. joseph pretty much eats anything and everything except peas.
i used to make him scrambled eggs for breakfast but he loves the bacon more then the eggs.
i think tonight ima make speghetti i use the swirly noodles so its easier for joseph to not make a giant mess with .
that kid will eat a chicken drumstick to just the bone lol and he dont turn 2 until august but he has all his teeth already. i guess im glad i dont have a picky one lol.
