Frequent Urination??
Posted: 04-17-07 11:22am

Hi All,

My granny has been really having a difficult time lately and I am seeking some advice or trying to see if anyone has the same symptoms.

My granny is in her 70s and the past year has been hard on her. No matter what time of day or night she gets unbelievably strong urges to go to the bathroom. To the point that she shakes just to try to control the urge because if she got up she would urinated on herself. I've been to her specialist a few times and he tried different medication, the last was flomax but it helped nothing. In fact it made the urges more often. Then she developed a urinary track infection and was put on antibiotics. Believe ior not the but antibiotics made her quality of life so much better to the point where she was using one diaper a day as to 10.

I went to her visit after the UTC which was diagnoished in the ER and told the doctor...he said he suspected it because her bladder has some kind of residual forming and he was hoping to clear that. It didnt really hit home and I wanted to do some research.

He put her on a low dose antibiotics once a day at night to see how that would help.

Also I want to point out that 6months ago she contracted e-coli and when she was on the antibiotics she said she was in heaven because she was able to go to the bathroom and not wet herself.

Also I want to point out that when the urge passes and she goes to the bathroom she can sit there for 20minutes and only a little will come out..then she gets up and within 20minutes or more again a strong urge. As you can imagine it is extremely frustrating for her

is anyone out there on a low dose of antibiotics? anyone have similar problems?
