Hello my name is Nathan and my wife and I
had our 1st child 2 weeks ago and last
night my wife went sideways. It started
out with her not making sense and then
progressed into her talking about seeing
the future and being able to fast forward
and rewind thoughts and feelings. My
father in law and I took her to the ER
last night and they didnt do anything
except talk to us and gave us a
prescription of ambien. When she awoke
this morning it was just as bad if not
worse, she was asking what time it was
like every 10 seconds, she kept asking
what day it was and when our son was born
and just kept asking. I took our son to
our cousin for her to babysit and I took
my wife back in. While at the ER she was
acting about 90% normal and the nurse
asked us some more questions. This time
they talked to her more and gave her
prescription of Zyprexa and Lorazepam and
said we cant get in to see and
psychiatrist until Thursday. We got home
and suddenly her symptoms came back. She
kept saying that she needed to feed the
baby but I kept telling her the baby was
at Danielles. We kept going up and down
the stairs because she would say the baby
was downstairs and then we get down there
and she says he is upstairs. SHe then fed
the cat 4 times in a matter of 15 minutes
and proceeded to shuffle through some
paper on the table over and over again. I
am stressed to the max and have no idea
what to do. She doesnt act depressed or
angry and hasnt had any dark thoughts but
she thinks she is perfectly fine and that
it is everyone else who is off. Any
advice?????????????????????????

Contact her obgyn immediately. They should
have an answering service. If you're able
to get through, tell them what's happening
and that you've been to the .e.r and they
have not helped. They will advise you
further.
If you can't get ahold of anyone, take
your wife back to the .e.r and demand for
them to treat her. Tell them that you fear
she is a danger to herself and her
children. Refuse to leave until they do
something.
Please keep us updated about her
condition. Good luck.

Hi Nathan, first, you are such a
supportive husband! Congratulations on
your new baby. Your wife does seem to have
some sort of mental issue. Is she taking
the meds the hospital presc? The ambien
will only make her sleep. Might be a good
idea, as long as she is asleep, she would
not be any harm to herself. Until you can
get her in to see a phys. is there any
other family that can help you with her.
You were very wise to leave the baby with
your cousin. I wish I could offer more
help. My heart goes out to you both.
