Inevitable Infections After Sex?
Posted: 04-17-07 19:10pm

I have a very annoying problem. When I am in relationship I am constantly having urinary infections. I am keeping hygiene and doing everything to avoid that but it looks inevitable. Also my vagina is always dry and I am tired of using so much lubricant. What to to with infections and what causes dryness?

There are a few different causes of dryness. Here are some sites that talk about the causes and what you might be able to do about it:

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vagin al-dryness/DS00550/DSECTION=3
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vagin al-dryness/DS00550/DSECTION=1

Here is a site about urinary tract infections and sex:

http://www. umm.edu/patiented/articles/what_risk_facto rs_urinary_tract_infections__000036_4.htm< /a>

Use these sites for more information, but not as a tool to help you self-diagnose. As with most things, you should talk to your ob-gyn and see if there is something more serious causing these issues first.

i suppose if you are dry this could mean your urethral opening is getting irritated more easily. this could be a factor.

i used to get urinary infections all the time too. it was a pain in the ass. the thing that seems to have made it better is going to the toilet after sex. you are supposed to do this to flush out infections.

at the time my boyfriend was living with his parents, so to get to the bathroom i had to go down a ladder, across his hall past his parents. lol. that wasnt happening! since he's moved house it's much easier to get to a toilet, i've been peeing straight after sex and it seems to have stopped the problem.

cranberry juice is supposed to help prevent cystitis by stopping the infection sticking to your bladder wall.... you can also get cranberry tablets which i have been taking daily, i think this has helped.

have you tried these things? it's still happening? well there is a condition women can get called intersitial cystitis or something. doctor's often misdiagnose it as a simple urinary track infection. this is something worth investigating. ask your doctor

Like mentioned, cranberries are very good for urinary involved infections. However, don't drink the juice unless you make it yourself. Store bought stuff is pasteurized and loaded with sugar. Sugar isn't good for infections. So tablets or actual cranberries is the best way. D-Mannose is another supplement useful and is often contained in Cranberry tablet products.

Another thing is probiotics, or beneficial bacteria. It can be gotten from organic, plain (remember, sugar is bad) yogurt, but probably best taken by supplement form to ensure it gets past the stomach acids. Look for enteric coated. Probiotics help with immunity, digestion, and keeping bad bacteria in check. It's very essential to health and some are sold specifically for women to prevent and care for infections such as yeast.

If you are dry all the time and you don't think it is because of lack of foreplay or something (which is common) then you should probably go to the doctor. There are many things that can make a woman more dry, including birth control. What birth control do you use?

I also have to pee every time I have sex or I get uti's. Luckily, as long as I do this, I am fine.
