Positive Emg In Past. New Mri Results
Posted: 04-17-07 20:03pm

Back in the early 1990's I had a accident from a fall of about 20ft from a antenna tower and have had problems to this date from it. I have had to tke Nerontin for years which helped tell recently and now that is not doing the trick anymore. I have been seen in the past with many tests and the only one that showed anything was 3 positive EMG's with root invlovment at the root of the S-1. I just had a MRI done two days ago and have not talked with the doctor yet, but wondered if someone could interpit some of this medical jargan. Here is the results of the MRI.

0 Preliminary EXAM: MRI LUMBAR SPINE WITHOUT CONTRAST LUMBAR SPINE MRI 04/16/07 HISTORY: Back pain and left leg pain. No comparison. DESCRIPTION: On a 1.5 Tesla magnet, the following sequences were obtained: Axial proton density and T2 weighted, sagittal STIR, T1 and T2 weighted images of the lumbar spine. Alignment and vertebral height are normal. A large hemangioma is seen centrally within the L4 vertebral body. Scattered foci of fatty marrow change are present elsewhere throughout lumbar vertebrae and sacrum. There is mild disk degenerative signal seen diffusely, without significant loss of disk height. Small chronic Schmorl's nodes are seen involving upper lumbar endplates. Distal spinal cord and contents of the distal thecal sac are unremarkable. L1-2: Mild disk bulge is seen with tiny right central disk protrusion minimally effacing the thecal sac. Chronic Schmorl's nodes are also noted. L2-3: Minimal disk bulge. L3-4: Minimal disk bulge slightly effaces the thecal sac. L4-5: Mild disk bulge is present. L5-S1: No significant degenerative change. IMPRESSION: 1) Mild multilevel lumbar spine degenerative changes are seen. A tiny right central disk protrusion is present at L1-2 minimally effacing the thecal sac. No other disk herniation, significant canal or foraminal narrowing. 2) Large hemangioma is present centrally within the L4 vertebral body
