I have a little doubt concerning the
combined use of the calendar method in
association with the male condom. My
girlfriend can´t use the pill so we were
looking for some other method that could
be similarly safe.
My question is: exactly what is the
efficiency rate of the use of the calendar
method (my girlfriend is quite regular) in
association with the male condom?
Thank´s in advance.

There is another post about this.
It's hard to tell how effective the
calender method is. I've never tried it,
but I know that people who talk to a
professional about it and really learn
about it can be very successful. If you
don't, then it's not so good.
Condoms can be very effective if you use
them absolutely correctly. And like others
have suggested, keep a dose of plan b
around in case it breaks or something
happends. Although if you're girlfriend
can't use hormonal birth control than I
guess don't do that. Why can't she??
If it is just because of side effects than
plan b might be a good idea. You only take
it once (well, two doses) so the side
effects (if you get any) don't last.

Well, the fact is that she wouldn´t take
the side effects of the pill. So she´d
rather find some other method. But I´m
starting to believe that condom plus
calendar just might work.
Thanks for your reply.

Has she tried all brands of the pills?
Some have different amounts of pills, and
there is one that is progeterone only, so
if it's the other horomone in most pills
affecting her, the other pill could work.

I'd still use plan b-- just in case. You
never know what might happen. And it is
really easy to get and not that expensive,
and any side effects would go away
quickly.
But I don't know much about the calender
method. I hope it works out for you!

I think the calendar method can be a
wonderful, side-effect-free method for
couples who don't mind the chances of
becoming pregnant. But for youner couples
who absolutely want to avoid pregnancy, I
don't think it' quite safe enough.
