Pain After Blood Pressure Taken Posted: 04-18-07 11:55am
I went to the doctor yesterday to get some
test results back. I'm kind of a big gal,
so they borrowed a large cuff from next
door(this indicated to me that they don't
often take blood pressure on large
people). The nurse wrapped the cuff very
tightly around my upper left arm and
pumped it up to full capacity, actually
holding on to it to stop it from coming
off. She could not hear my heart however,
and proceed to pump it up to the point of
it being very painful two more times until
she got a reading. She got a slightly
high reading(the first in my life, even
after I'd just had it read a month ago at
a different office and it was perfectly
fine).
About an hour after this took place, I had
pain in my upper left arm, just above
where the cuff was. I can push on the
spot and make it hurt and I tried to
stretch it out and applied some muscle
cream, but nothing seems to work.
I'm wondering if something is now damaged,
or if muscle was pulled or what? Thank
You.

I hope that nothing was damaged. It sounds
as though it was tight enough to cause a
bruise. Possibly a bruised muscle? I'm
sorry I couldn't be more help.
