Neuro-opthalmologic Tests And Hydrocephalus Posted: 02-19-04 06:51am
Hello,
my 3 years old daughter was diagnosed with
congenital blocking hydrocephalus when she
was 8 weeks old. She was operated on
right away and a shunt was placed, that is
functioning well. She is developing very
well, and is a happy, bright, articulate
and above-average intelligent 3 years old.
You would not guess by looking at her,
talking to her or playing with her that
anything is not 100% about her...
We have annual dr visits with the
neurosurgeon, and at the last one he said
she would have to be checked by a
neuro-opthalmologyst before her next
check-up. This is to prevent the need to
have an annual ct, he said.
I am looking for any information
available, to understand exactly what test
we have to expect, and the connection
between the test's results and her
condition.
Thank you in advance for any information
or experience you can share with us!

By now your daughter would be 7 years old.
I do hope someone has shed some light on
this and she is doing well.
