So, I am currently on Nexium, but I'm
paying insurance premiums out the @$$, and
I don't want to pay those anymore.
What are my alternatives?
The only one I can think of off the top of
my head is Prilosec. So can anyone please
tell me what the pro's and con's are for
each drug, so I can have some wisdom ready
when I go talk to my doctor about this
next week. Thanks.

I am in the UK & I take losec which I
believe is the equivalent to Prilosec in
US. I have never had a problem with these,
I currently take 40mg & if having a
bad day need to take 2 a day but this is
very rare.
I find I can eat most things no compared
to before I took them & keeps my acid
reflux at bay.
I don't have any experience with Nexium,
never heard of it, does it have a
different name in the UK?

Have been on Prevacid for the past 5
years. Seemed to stopped working around
Nov of last year. Endoscopy revealed
gastritis, not ulcers also H pylori.a
round of antibiocs fixed this( pepcid and
zantac during this period) afterwards was
put on Proton. I have not found anything
that has stopped this acid reflux,
although now that I am taking Prevacid in
the am and occasional zantac, up to twice
a day, it seems to help. I am not about to
pay the insurance premium for the Nexium.
You could alwasy try the prevacid along
with the zantac? If this does not work, go
back to the Nexium. My gastro suggest the
others way before he suggest Nexium. Says
its a pharmaceutical rip off!
