I Found Some Helpful Tips 4 You Mommies Posted: 02-19-04 11:24am
Hey everyone-i hope you are all good and
well. I have been reading a magazine and
came across a section called 'a pefect
pregnancy' and thought i'd type in some of
the tips it gives because they sound
helpful!
1) heartburn: avoid eating & drinking
at the same time,
eat smaller more frequent meals,
avoid eating late at night,
avoid fatty foods-dairy food may help,
sleep propped up with several pillows
rather than lying flat,
between meals take a quarter of a teaspoon
of sodium bicarbonate dissolved in
water.
2) itchy skin: the skin becomes more
stretchy as the abdomen stretches,
wear loose cotton clothing,
apply calamine lotion to problem areas,
add a teaspoon of bicarb to your running
bath water,
go to your doctor if its severe because it
can be a synptom of pregnancy related
liver disease.
3) sickness: 80% women suffer sickness in
pregnancy,
ginger is a traditional remedy-try ginger
biscuits,
acupressure can relieve symptoms,
always eat breakfast,
eat small meals & snacks of fruit
& seeds,
avoid sugary and junk foods,
take multivitamins such as zinc and
vitamin b,
decrease your caffeine levels or avoid
caffeine if you can
4) stretchmarks: can be a sign of zinc
deficiency,
eat zinc rich foods such as peas, eggs and
fish,
the skins flexibility depends on essential
fatty oils which are found in oily fish
and seeds,
vitamin e helps keep skin supple &
vitamin e oil can be helpful in reducing
the skins susceptablity to stretchmarks.
5) varicose veins: try to avoid standing
up for long periods,
wear flat shoes & support tights (very
sexy!!)
dont sit with crossed legs,
regular exercise will help stimulate
circulation.
6) water retention: your body holds onto
more sodium when you're pregnant,
increasing the amount of fluid to your
body,
cut down on salty foods such as bacon and
crisps,
boost your intake of pottasium rich foods
such as fruit & veg,
drink water to flush out unwanted toxins,
exercise regularly to improve lymphatic
drainage
hope some of these help you!
