I'm sorry that you have do deal with that.
That can not be fun. As far as I know
antibiotics are the only thing they can do
for it. You doctor may put you on another
round of them. If they do put you on
another round, just remeber, to get plenty
of the good bacteria. (It is in yogurt,
just look for "active culture". Or you can
go to any nutrition store and buy it, it
will be in the frig.) Because the last
thing you want when you are pregnant and
getting over an infection is a yeast
infection on top of it.
I hope your feeling better soon! Let us
know what the doctor says!

Oh man! I had a UTI at the beginning of my
pregnancy it was horrible! It wasn't the
first one I had though so I knew what to
expect. Also, whenever I got the
antibiotics it gave me a yeast infection.
Ick, that was not fun!

i had over 20 uti's with my first
pregnancy and around 10 with my second. i
was lucky not to get any with my third. i
was in and out of hospital on a i.v drip
as i had no symptoms except when i got
extreme pain in my backla it had spread to
my kidneys
i ended up being on an oral suspension of
antibiotics throughout my whole pregnancy
but it didn't help. mine kept coming back
repeatadly. like i say, i had 20 with my
first pregnancy! i kept getting admitted
to hospital for a week at a time. not
nice
it sounds like they have given you the
wrong type of antibiotic and it hasn't
worked. i suggest you speak to you doctor
and get them to grow a culture of your
urine sample to see which antibiotic it is
sensitive to.
i hope it goes away soon!

thanks for the replies! i went to the Dr
and she only did the test strip and it
came up negative but i know i still have
it! so she didn't give me anything else
for it and of course it is the weekend....
i just feel like i am wasting time now and
it is going to get worse. beckster, did
you get the kidney infection while
pregnant? i am so scared of that happening
to me and going into preterm labor!
because now i can either be a crazy person
and call up to the hospital or i can wait
until tuesday at my next appt.

Holy cow! That must have been horrible!
Tula: I hope you get it solved and some
relief soon! That is just not fun. I had
one early on during my pregnancy but the
doctor did catch it early on.

yes i got 9 actual kidney infections with
my first pregnancy and 4 with my 2nd. i
had to be admitted on an i.v drip giving
me antibiotics. it was awful! my urine was
almost black. both my first two babies
were born at 38 weeks. my third pregnancy
i didn't have any infections but my
daughter was born at 21 weeks.

oh, i am sorry that happened
but knowing that you had so many kidney
infections and didn't have premature labor
makes me feel a little better! sometimes i
think we know our bodies better than the
Dr's think they do.
