Thanks Sarah for continually proving my point!

Calling my Mother a "fool"...that would be considerd a sign of low class or a "low blow" seeing as how you do not know her.

And for the love of God, how many times do I have to keep referring you to my original post? You really have to read more carefully and then understand what you are reading. "I opted for the epi so that I could get some rest...It was WONDERFUL! They dont give medals to women for natural child birth so take the medication if you feel you need it." Im pretty sure that I did not say *give in* anywhere in that statement.

If you think that was rude then you do not understand what the word means. Perhaps you should ask your husband to swing by the library on his way home from work so that he can check out the dictionary for you. Its a big building full of books and you can borrow them for free...really...it does not cost you or anything! Actually, I should say it does not cost your husband anything. Besides, he sounds like a nice guy letting you stay home. Im sure he wouldnt mind the extra stop on the way home. Now that was a *low blow*...sorry that was uncalled for.

Its great, the way my mat leave works out. I have the whole year off! Its nice to know that I will have time to interact with the moms and moms to be on the forum and learn what thier experiences and problems are because Im sure we have the same issues.

I am fully aware of the side effects of the epi. I read up on it and asked my Dr. tons of questions before I decided that it would be an option for me. After all, you can never *EDUCATE* yourself too much when it comes to you or your babys health.

Since you have so much free time (WOW...5000 posts! Clearly the most of anyone on the forum) you should consider becoming a moderator. I will be there to throw the confetti for #5000!

Thats too bad that all you got was a crummy gold star but not to worry...I will share my medal with you! Wink

let's end this. I apologize for calling your mother a "fool". It was wrong and childish of me.

I am a state licensed .esthitician. So don't talk to me like I'm an fool. I make $18+ per hour when I *do* work. I'm also state certified to perform microdermabrasion.

I plan on working in .may to bring in 2 steady incomes and become "well off."

I did tons of research and educated myself about labor, and chose to go completely drug free. I stuck to my decisions and labored, at the hospital, for less than 3 hours with no medical intervention. Kudos to me. Rolling Eyes

Telling me I have no class is just as bad as me calling you rude.

Sarah

Geez. I guess that's why you don't mess with a pregnant lady!! LOL My heart is racing just from reading all those posts.

Oh, and I just wanted to add, if anyone is still following this thread, something I read about epidurals. I read that when you get one, there is no guarantee that it will work to numb the pain, it may wear off or only numb half your body or just not work at all. Also, and I found this really interesting, the epidural can halt your body's production of natural pain relief. I think it's dopamine and some other chemicals your body releases to ease the pain and keep you in a dreamlike state during the labour. So, if the effects of the epi wear off you can end up in worse pain than if you didn't have one at all! Also, the chemicals in the brain that make you forget all about the pain after the baby is born can be interrupted so you remember all the pain clearly and sometimes this causes some mental anguish to mothers who can't forget how painful it was even when it's over. The doctors don't tell you that stuff and it's something to think about before going in because you won't be doing too much thinking when you're in the midst of it. I just thought it was something interesting to consider because a lot of women on here mention that they are planning the epidural ahead of time and I just hope that they don't rely on it too much in case it doesn't work out according to plan. Just something to make you go hmmmmm.

that's exactly what happened to me. i finally got my epi after about 11 hours of *excruciating* back labor and it was sweet relief for about an hour, then it wore off on half my body (what a strange sensation) and the pain was so much worse than before. luckily i didn't have to suffer much longer, i ended up with a c-section about an hour later.
