3 Yr Old With Weak Muscles? Help Please. Posted: 04-20-07 15:37pm
Hello, my husband and I are in the process
of adopting his little three year old
grandson. Well, his foster family told us
there were problems with his legs and a
lot of falling down.
We had him evaluated twice. He has
extreemly flat feet that turn inward. He
also has knock knees. Recent evaluation
showed that he has very weak muscles.
We are suppose to put him in therapy now
for three months. If nothing changes then
we take him back again to find out why.
What are the early signs of MD??? I know
something is not right with the way he
walks and runs. Sometimes when he falls
he has trouble getting up. He seems to
run with slight tip toes sometimes. He is
like a stuffed animal. Soft. Not like
other three year olds we are around. He
cannot climb very well. He tries and
sometimes makes it up ladders but most the
time he falls. He has a lot of trouble up
and down the stairs.
Regarding Three Year Old With Muscular Problems Posted: 09-22-07 18:01pm
Hi my name is Carrie-Ann and I have a
brother who is 26 years old and he has
muscular dystrophy duchenne. and he was
diagnosed when he was 4 years old. For you
3 year old grandson I hate to be the one
to tell you that it is muscular dystrophy
cause the symptoms of not walking properly
and always falling and can't climb the
stairs are warning signs, I suggest to
you that you go and get ablood test done
and see the doctor then he can tell you
what kind of muscular dystophy he has
cause there are 49 different kinds of
muscular dystrophy.

My husband was told at the age of 2 that
he had muscular dystrophy. He had the same
symptoms as your grandson. I hope that
this isn't true since I am now just
reading your concern. If any questions
feel free to email me.

MY 8 year old son Has Duchenne Muscular
Dystrophy, I spent 2 years trying to
convince doctors that there was more of a
problem but they all put it down to
dehydration or clumsy child, Dont worry ,
they said he will catch up eventually.
We finally got a diagnosis when he was 6.
Dont give up hassle those doctors till
they listen to you!!!. Sorry but your
situation sounds similar to mine[ Muscular
Dystrophy]
