I am 21 years old. I was with my ex-fiance
for 3 years and we didn't use protection
and I never got pregnant 3 months after we
seperated he got someone else pregnant so
I thought it was just me. I had a one
night stand and I got pregnant I ended up
getting an abortion. I went back to my
doctors for a check up right after the
abortion to make sure everything was okay
and it was. My boyfriend now is 31 years
old and we have been together for 1 1/2
years and he has 3 kids his last child was
just born A few months ago so I know he is
still fertile. I have been trying to get
pregnant since September and it still
hasn't happened. Is there any advice or
anything that could help me get pregnant
now that I know I can?

It's not uncommon for women to try for
more than 9-12 months to become pregnant.
I know that you've been trying since
September, but that isn't yet long enough
to be blaming a medical problem. It's
most likely that you just aren't having
sex at the right times; a fertile egg is
only able to be fertilized for a few days,
and if you miss that time, you won't
become pregnant. The challenging part is
identifying when you're most fertile.
If you're really serious about becoming
pregnant, I suggest looking into the
Fertility Awareness Method which can help
you determine when you're most fertile.
It's relatively free to do, and you should
be able to find a book about it in your
library. There are some sites online
devoted to this topic, but they tend to be
brief. All you need is a few minutes
everyday to observe your temperature
and/or cervical mucus or cervical position
and chart that information. It doesn't
take long to see a pattern and be able to
apply the information.
