Dental Antibiotic Trouble??
Posted: 04-21-07 09:48am

I went to a new dentist on Tuesday of this week (today is saturday) and I was perscribed Clindamycin for an abscess tooth that is going to be pulled in about a week or so. Since taking this antibiotic 4 times daily, 2 pills each dose, my mouth seems to be alot worse than it was originally. My left side of my lower mouth is extremely painful to touch, I cant even eat on that side of my mouth, my neck on the left side is very swollen and tender to touch and just seems to be getting worse. It hurts to open my mouth and it's almost even getting sore to swallow, to me these seem like big fat danger signs!!

I called my dentist yesterday to explain these problems and spoke to 2 seperate receptionists at that office, they talked to the dentist and thier only advice to me was to up my dose back up to 2 pills (since I had switched to 1 per dose as per the instrutions on the bottle). I am very worried because looking up CLINDAMYCIN online I keep reading that swelling is a serious side effect. It is Saturday morning and the dentist doesnt open until monday and my neck is swelling worse!!! Should I stop taking the pills for the rest of the weekend? Or should I continue on with the pills till monday, even though I might be allergic to them?

Any input appreciated, my face is in so much pain Sad
