Side Effects Or the Flu?
Posted: 04-22-07 18:13pm

I've been on birth control (yasmin 21) since February of this year. This past month I've been feeling very nauseous dizzy, and I've been experience some body aches. Its been 4 months since I've had sex (long.. i know Sad ) and I've ruled out the possiblity of being pregnant because I had my period in January and every month after that since I've started the pill. So could this been the flu (my whole family was sick w/ the flu in the beginning of the month) or could I be experiencing side effects?

Those sound like flu symptoms, not pill side-effects.

Also, I went to the doctor yesterday... she said the nausea is from the birth control pills. Yasmine has a higher dose of estrogen which is causing the nausea.

She also said that I should take it with food..

soo just a heads up for other taking Yasmine! Very
Happy

it's a good thing you couldn't vomit! Not only is it highly uncomfortable to do, but it also could have decreased the effectiveness of your pills.

I noticed nausea with ortho-lo personally, when I switched from taking them in the morning and moved to taking them at night. I was eating smaller meals at night than in the morning, and I ended up puking two or three times before I realised that if I took it at night, I had to take it with somthing very small (I have to eat food when I take any pill, otherwise I can 'feel' it in my throat) or I'd get sick. When I take it in the mornings, I'm fine for some reason.

I was getting sick about 6 hours into the night after taking the pills.

I'd like to try and take it in the morning but I don't always wake up at the same time everyday and 11pm seems to be the best time for me to take it.

Confused

I wake up at different times too. What I do is set a seperate alarm on my cell for 7 am. Sometimes I'm awake and sometimes I'm not-but I keep my pills and a bottle of water next to my bed. I roll over, take my pill, and go back to sleep.

I tried to quote you but messed up. Oh well.
