Tanning While Prego. Posted: 04-22-07 21:33pm
I was just wondering just how bad it was
to tan while pregnant. When I worked at a
tanning salon there were so many pregnant
women that would come in and tan. Why is
it some people say its bad to tan, and
then others think its ok?? I am just soo
tired of being so pasty white. Any
answers????

This is something I would ask your ob/gyn
about. There are so many differing
opinions on the subject. Maybe until you
get an answer from your doctor you could
try sunless tanning?

see i tried to tan outside just to get a
little color and got all sorts of weird
pregnancy spots.. i got the line down my
tummy and the starts of a pregnancy mask..
Id suggest avoiding the sun.. I realize
some things you can help but get when
pregnant but i think that the sun makes it
much worse..since getting my line i
stopped laying out and it hasnt gotten any
worse.. If it saves my skin some weird
stuff i can stay out of the sun for 9
months.. plus its about overheating your
body.. thats why that dont recommend it.
Same reason your not suppose to take hot
baths or sit in spas..i say why risk it..
i dont think a tan is worth hurting the
baby

this has nothing to do with the sun.

tanning, reguardless of being pregnant or
not is *bad*. It can cause melanoma and
you can acutally die from it. I'd rather
keep my natural color and live longer.
Plus, tanning ages you severly. A woman
who tans for 10 years, at 30, will appear
to be 40 so on and so on.
All and all, it's just not something you
should *want* to do to yourself, your
body.
Every month, a woman should strip down
naked and look for any new spots on their
body. Have your partner check out your
back for any abnomally shaped moles, or
any strange discolorations.
I got the .linea .nigra too. It's not from
tanning, or being in the sun. It's just
something that many women get while
pregnant. It's a mixture of your heritage
and your hormones!
The "pregnancy mask",also, isn't due to
the sun.

i am not going to tan at all but i sure
wish i could! it would help clear up my
skin! i don't want to risk the over
heating. i just thought the sun made the
mask worse or more noticeable because it
gets darker from your skin tanning. i am
miss whitey white and never am able to
actually tan so i am used to not having
any color and blinding people with my
legs!

I don't think I have ever agreed with you
so much.
This is some of the best advice ever -
thank you.
